About us

Welcome to California International Club brings together an amazing group of women in San Diego. The club began with European members and today reflects a mostly Latin American background, with members from Mexico and most South American countries.

Our Day of the Dead celebration, with creative costumes and dishes from many traditions, is one of the highlights of the year, and our Dancing Club celebrates every birthday and milestone on the dance floor.

The club was founded in 2002 by Maria Neighbors and Vilma Boettcher, as the first Welcome club in California. Our first members’ tea took place on October 12, 2002, at the home of Angela Hecht in Del Mar, where our first president, Vilma Boettcher, welcomed thirteen interested women to a group of ten members. In 2008 we co-hosted the WCI International Conference in San Diego with the Women’s International Border Club.

Club news

  1. Host of the 2027 WCI Board of Directors meeting

    Our club will host the 2027 Board of Directors meeting in Querétaro, Mexico, with a visit to San Miguel de Allende and a post-conference trip to Mexico City.
